Finger Tactile Pressure Sensors – Fruit Squeezing Experiment

Monday, May 24th, 2010

The sense of touch is used for many actions that can be difficult to quantify.  One example is in evaluating the ripeness of fruit.  Growers of avocados and mangos typically have “squeeze experts” who squeeze fruit to sort it into varying degrees of ripeness for shipment and distribution.

Using PPS Finger Tactile Pressure Sensors (FingerTPS), this process can be standardized and potentially even automated, leading to better consistency and yield in crops.

Watch the  following video to see how the Pressure Profiles FingerTPS System can help quantify the pressures the squeeze experts are feeling.

Tactile Array Conformable and Stretchable Pressure Sensor Special Offer!

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Pressure Profile Systems (PPS) announces a SPECIAL OFFER of 25% OFF on their most popular pressure sensor systems; Conformable TactArray and Stretchable TactArray pressure sensors in standard configurations:

16×16 Conformable TactArray System with 3.8mm square element size, pressure  range up to 30psi. (The PPS Conformable TactArray is a versatile pressure sensor suited for most measurement needs and can be molded to curved surfaces.)

16×16 Stretchable TactArray System with 10mm square element size, pressure up to 30psi.  (The PPS Stretchable TactArray is constructed of lycra, allowing the pressure sensor to stretch for a snug fit to the most complex shapes, including the human body.

PPS TactArray distributed pressure measurement systems were developed for measuring the tactile pressure distribution between objects in direct physical contact.

All TactArray systems include one or more sensor arrays, drive electronics, real-time visualization and acquisition software, power supply and cables, and an operator’s manual.  With a windows-based PC, you have everything you need to begin collecting data.
