Is It Too Tight?

Measuring the fit of a garment against the skin is always difficult due to the complex shapes involved. When a major American manufacturer needed a tactile system capable of measuring the fit of a baby diaper, they called PPS.

As an R&D partner, PPS began by supplying a simple T2000 system with two sensing arrays to test the concept of using a conformable tactile array to check the integrity of a diaper seal on a mannequin. With the approach successfully validated, PPS worked with our client's engineers to develop a system based on our T3000 platform to provide molded, conformable sensing bands for the waist and legs. Special software displayed the tactile data on a 3-D representation of the infant-sized mannequin.
