FingerTPS Measures Fruit Ripeness in Squeezing Experiment

We use our senses at the market to determine which fruits and vegetables are ripe and good to eat. The first and obvious one for most is using our eyes to assess what colors and sizes of things we want. But then for some fruits, like avocados and mangos, we take it a step further by squeezing the fruits for hardness or softness. A hard avocado means tough texture and flavorless taste. Find one with just the right amount of softness and it will feel buttery and taste delicious in your mouth.

But how do we know when hard is too hard or if it's too soft? A major avocado grower came to PPS with just that question. They wanted to be able to measure and quantify what their squeezing experts had learned from experience and practice. To accomplish this they used PPS' FingerTPS System.
